Priority Convention Registration for the 2021 ABCA Convention will open for current ABCA members on Aug. 17! Registration for all others will open beginning Sept. 1.

The 77th annual ABCA Convention is scheduled to be held January 7-10, 2021 just outside of Washington, D.C. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. While the COVID-19 situation may cause social distancing limitations, rest assured, the ABCA is prepared to provide great content and resources for our member coaches!
The four-day event features more than 50 clinics across the main clinic hall, Youth Coaches Session and Expo Theater in addition to nearly 200,000 square feet of baseball exhibits in the ABCA Trade Show. Furthermore, attendees participate in Question & Answer as well as Hot Stove Sessions, celebrate coaching peers receiving awards, take part in committee & divisional meetings, network at the ABCA Coaches Social and more throughout the weekend!
We are closely monitoring the recommended guidelines and safety measures for appropriate social distancing and capacity limits on large gatherings. We will update and change our plans, if needed.

What's our Plan?

  1. Option 1: Full Convention in Washington, D.C. with Live Streaming  As of now, the ABCA plans to host a full Convention, including all events, on the scheduled dates, January 7-10, 2021 at the Gaylord National. We will be following all guidelines from health officials as well as the facility to hold the safest meeting possible. We will also be live streaming the main stage presentations for any coaches who are registered for the Convention (to allow them to view outside the clinic hall) as well as for any coaches who are unable to attend. The fee for live video streaming will be the same as Early Bird Convention Registration, $90.
  2. Option 2: Limited Convention in Washington, D.C. with Live Streaming – If social distancing guidelines allow us to hold the 2021 ABCA Convention safely in a limited capacity January 7-10, 2021, we will host the in-person meeting as well as offering live video streaming. If more coaches register for the in-person event than health officials advise at a later date, registrations will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. Anyone who registers for the Convention but is not able to attend will be automatically registered for live video streaming, or may ask for a refund.
  3. Option 3: Virtual Convention with Live Streaming – We are working on plans to host a Virtual ABCA Convention in the event that we are not able to host an in-person Convention. This will include clinics, post-clinic Q&As, a Virtual Trade Show and more! The Virtual Convention will run over the same dates and deliver great content, as usual! Anyone registered for the in-person Convention or live video streaming will be automatically registered for the Virtual Convention, or may ask for a refund.

The 2021 ABCA Convention is the fifth time in history that the event will be held in the Washington, D.C. area and the first at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. The festivities will kick off on Thursday, Jan. 7 with the opening of the ABCA Trade Show and the Expo Theater. The ABCA Trade Show will feature over 350 baseball companies displaying state-of-the-art equipment and services, releasing new products and showcasing the latest and greatest in innovative services, technology & more! The Expo Theater will have around 20 clinics throughout a three-day span with product demos and releases by ABCA partners and exhibitors.

The main-stage clinics presented by ATEC will run from Friday, Jan. 8 through the morning of Sunday, Jan. 10. Clinic speakers will be announced in September and are being set up by ABCA 2nd Vice President & Head Coach at South Florida State College, Rick Hitt, along with assistance from ABCA 3rd Vice President & Head Coach at TCU, Jim Schlossnagle. As is tradition, the clinics will be led off by the reigning NCAA Div. I national championship head coach. Additional speakers, panels & schedules will be released throughout the fall as well!

Running concurrently on Friday, Jan. 8 & Saturday, Jan. 9 at the convention will be the Youth Coaches Session presented by GameChanger. The Youth Coaches Session will host about 15 clinics tailored specifically for coaches of youth-level teams up to age 14. Question and Answer sessions will follow up each main-stage & Youth Coaches Session clinic to give attendees time to have each presenter expand on certain topics from their presentations.

Other events during the weekend include the ABCA/Diamond Hall of Fame Banquet to honor the Lefty Gomez Award recipient and the ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2021 as well as Divisional Coaches Meetings & Rookie Coaches Mentorship Gathering on Thursday evening, an ABCA Coaches Networking Social in the Trade Show on Friday evening and "Hot Stove" Position-Specific Sessions on Friday and Saturday night!

All coaches that register and check-in on site at the 2021 ABCA Convention will once again receive the entire clinic video set for free after the convention. The complete set includes the main stage clinics, Q&A sessions, Youth Coaches Sessions as well as Expo Theater presentations! All the videos will be available on www.ABCAvideos.org at the conclusion of the convention.

ABCA member coaches that are unable to attend the convention are highly encouraged to take advantage of the Convention Live Stream. The ABCA introduced the live stream option for the first time at the 2020 ABCA Convention. The live video stream allows ABCA members to watch all of the nearly 25 main-stage clinic presentations in real time in the My ABCA mobile app or online! Live video streaming registrants will also receive all of the on-demand videos from the 2021 ABCA Convention for free! That includes the main-stage clinics, Q&A sessions, Youth Coaches Session and Expo Theater (50+ videos).

Be sure to keep an eye out for more information regarding the 2021 Convention beginning this summer on the ABCA website and our social media platforms as well as in the My ABCA app, Inside Pitch Magazine and Press Box e-newsletter.
